After having already had the chance to design two incredibly successful emoji® campaigns for Switzerland’s leading retailer COOP in 2017 and 2018, Boost was asked to create yet another campaign that would continue the success story of the last two years.
COOP was looking for a collectibles campaign with a strong family aspect and an exceptional brand. Furthermore, the campaign mechanism had to focus on rewarding loyal customers while being able to excite not only children aged 5 – 12 but the entire family, including teenagers and adults.
With “emoji® Summer”, Boost developed a must-have outdoor product range for the whole family. Featuring the iconic emoji® icons, this innovative line-up included an emoji® bottle, a lunch box, a large picnic blanket, a beach towel and two different microfibre sports towels.
To receive one amazing emoji® product for free, COOP shoppers had to follow a simple system: during a six-week period, COOP gave customers one emoji® stamp for every CHF 10 spent in all COOP, COOP City and COOP Bau+Hobby stores. After having collected only 40 stamps, COOP shoppers were then able to redeem their emoji® stamps for a product of their choice without any additional payment.
By combining the hyped emoji® brand with an attractive product line-up for the whole family, Boost was again able to create a hype among COOP shoppers. On top of an extensive marketing campaign that involved advertising across all channels, Boost and COOP held a prize draw for the highly popular “Hello Family Club”, resulting in even greater campaign awareness.
The implemented “for free” campaign mechanism further helped to set COOP apart from the competition: thousands of happy shoppers felt truly rewarded, resulting in even stronger customer loyalty towards this leading retailer. Furthermore, the increase in sales clearly indicates the effect on shoppers’ behaviour.
